USDA - RURAL ENERGY FOR AMERICA PROGRAM (REAP) GRANTS 

(REAP) Grants will pay up to 25% of the installed cost of a system.  


The Grant is not guaranteed. The application is very complex and typically requires 50-100 pages of documents. 
Grant scores are favored for:

  1. Systems costing under $200,000
  2. Businesses with fewer than 15 employees
  3. Businesses with gross market sales under $200,000
  4. Systems that pay back in less than 10 years


Construction on the project cannot start until the grant application is submitted.  Application Deadline June 30, 2015
There is also a REAP loan available for up to 85% of the installed cost.  Total of grant and loan cannot exceed 100%.

PROPERTY ASSESSED CLEAN ENERGY (PACE) FINANCING

PACE programs allow property owners to finance qualifying energy efficiency and clean energy improvements on their properties through a special assessment on the property tax bill, which is repaid over a period of years.  Programs vary state to state and within each municipality. 

Business Energy Investment Tax Credit (ITC)

The Investment Tax Credit allows businesses to take credit equal to 30% of expenditures (installed cost) of the solar system, with no maximum credit. Eligible solar energy property includes equipment that uses solar energy to generate electricity, to heat or cool (or provide hot water for use in) a structure, or to provide solar process heat.
